Large windows make a home feel open and calm, but they also bring in a lot of heat, glare, and UV exposure. For this Belvedere, CA project, the goal was simple: keep the bright, panoramic feel while reducing the sun’s impact. We installed 3M Sun Control Window Film throughout the home. The three films we used were 3M Prestige Interior and Exterior Films and 3M Affinity. Here are some of the unique features of each film.

3M Sun Control Window Film: The Benefits
3M Prestige Window Film is the film you use when you want the glass to look almost untouched. It cuts heat and blocks UV while staying clear, which works well when the view matters just as much as the comfort inside the room. You still get that natural light, just without the harsh edges.
3M Exterior Prestige films add a layer of heat rejection before the energy even reaches the interior, which helps keep room temperatures steady. Because it is installed on the exterior of the home, you experience fewer interruptions during installation.
3M Affinity Window Film brings more shade and privacy into the mix. It has a stronger tint and more glare control, so it’s helpful in spots where sunlight is especially intense or reflections make the space uncomfortable. You notice the difference right away — the room feels calmer, and your eyes relax a bit.
Together, these films make the home easier to live in without altering the space’s look and feel. You keep the view, you keep the light, and you protect the things inside the home that tend to fade or overheat over time.
