When I first discovered Toby Long’s CleverHomes, I just knew that we had to showcase his firms work on the ClimatePro blog. After all, our team loves modern homes and highlighting the Bay Area’s diverse architectural talent, so this was a natural fit. For me, as a fan of ecological building practices, CleverHomes presents an incredible opportunity to show just how amazing green building can be.
CleverHomes describes what they do as making “cool, green prefab buildings”. All you have to do is to check out their portfolio to see that they’ve got the cool factor down. As for the green part, CleverHomes incorporates a number of green building practices into their prefab homes, including no VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) in their buildings. They use a lot of recycled materials and build many of their homes with green roofs, solar and alternative energy and many of their designs are off-the-grid.
This particular Burlingame resident is a joint project by CleverHomes and Cipriani Studios Design. Built in 2012, this modern masterpiece features open spaces and a really fantastic outdoor space. Enjoy this glimpse into the CleverHomes catalog and then hop over and see even more green goodness in their portfolio.
