Frank Lloyd Wright: Moving the Bachman Wilson House

You may be wondering what ClimatePro and window film has to do with burglaries.
Can you imagine what it takes to move an entire house from one location to the next? Well you don’t have to image it, you can actually see the process for yourself by keeping an eye on the
Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas. This is no ordinary house; it’s the The Bachman Wilson House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Before we dig into the details, take this visual tour of the house, recorded before it was dismantled.

The home was purchased in 1988 by Lawrence and Sharon Tarantino whose company,
Tarantino Studios, have built a stellar reputation as master restorers of Wright homes. This particular home was sitting near the Millstone River in New Jersey. Due to issues with rising water from the river, the Tarentino’s decided to sell the home to
Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. Of course this required a complete and
meticulous deconstruction of the house. What a task! You can follow the museum’s deconstruction process
here and the progress of reconstructing this masterpiece of modern design
here. Learn more about the history of the home
here.
